9:30 AM – 11:30 AM
ALL LEVELS WELCOME
FEE: $10.00 Donation (cash or check payable to The Old Stone House of Hasbrouck, Inc.)
Plein air is a French term meaning “outdoors” and refers to the practice of sketching or painting outdoors, in the open air, rather than working inside the studio. Adopted by the impressionists, this method of working directly from nature remains popular today among landscape painters.
These demonstrations will focus on the basics of painting outdoors and ways to approach plein air. We will discuss equipment and materials, choosing a subject, the use of preliminary sketches, composition, value, and color. Suitable for all levels. No materials required for these demonstrations. Fee: $10 Donation
